INTRUSA - Demo
Fantastic first demo from INTRUSA, from Madrid, that displays all the components of Iberian melodic punk (yes, I think I just invented this) that started at the end of the 90s and has been perfected over the last couple of decades by some of the people in this band through many projects. One of the keys to the catchiness of this demo is the vocals and choruses, which are perfectly combined with the already well-thought melodic instrumental parts. The lyrics are a mix of political and personal themes like isolation and individualism, the reminder of how important collectives are, and how we have to try to connect again with our local social movements of all kinds when we lose interest. Because it's easier not to get involved on anything and just live in the eternal loop of house-work-house. Listening to INTRUSA has been a good reminder of many things that sometimes, even knowing them, I forget or intentionally avoid.
It's interesting how their style is very attached to a kind of "Madrid" sound, but they find a way to mix it with some more rock-oriented parts, something that is displayed in a more intense way in the track "La Justa Distancia", where the band slows down before ramping up to a faster tempo in an amazing cover of AUSENCIA's "Mi lugar en este mundo."
Overall, a great demo that is 100% going to be on repeat on my MP3 player for at least a few months. Can't wait to hear more from them.
